Currently, a mammogram every three years for every woman aged 50 to 70 years costs the NHS ?96 million, annually.
The breast cancer screening programme NHS claims saves 1,400 lives a year, while the Department of Health estimates picking up around 13,500 of the 48,000 new invasive breast cancer cases registered annually.
But now, a group of international cancer experts say no evidence has been found that screening has lead to sharper declines in deaths rates related to the disease. Last night, an independent researcher went as far as recommending governments to seriously consider dropping the screening programmes.
However, cancer charities and health agencies say the best evidence remains of the programmes reducing death rates.
The study published in the British Medical Journal compared declines in breast cancer death rates in three sets of similar territories: Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland; The Netherlands to Flanders in Belgium and Sweden to Norway, introducing the first of each pair screening 10 to 15 years earlier than the second.
However, little difference was found between the pairs in breast cancer mortality rate falls from 1989 to 2006.
The drops in percentage were: 29 for Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland 26; Sweden 16, Norway 24; Netherlands 25, Flanders 25.
In conclusion, researchers said the similarities suggested mammography screening did not play a direct hand in reducing breast cancer mortality, and nor does it by itself have any significant detectable impact on mortality due to breast cancer.
According to the researchers, a plausible explanation for the fall in breast cancer death rates would be due to improvements in treatment and healthcare systems. The credit for the decline in breast cancer related death rates should go to those who treat the disease, and not those screening for it.

Online and offline businesses, small enterprises and mega companies, ?mom and pop? shops, and the huge franchise known around the world. What do all these businesses have in common? They are flocking to the internet for promotion and marketing purposes. Among the tools and strategies being employed by businesses on the internet, social media is probably the hippest, coolest, ?do or die? thing out there now-a-days. So it is worth exploring the question: does social network marketing work?
THE CONCEPT
The idea behind social media is for people to be, well, social. The creators of sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter, did not set out to create a space where businesses and marketers could come and make hundreds or even thousands of dollars without spending a cent. Their intention was to give people a save environment in which to connect and build relationships. In fact, ALL social media, with the possible exception of Facebook business pages, frown upon the idea of ?Spamming? which is nothing else than bombarding people with unsolicited offers, sales, and/or business promotions of any kind. So, with that in mind, it stand to reason that the concept of social media marketing is a bit of an oxymoron. How do you sell your product or service without presenting your sales pitch or offering people your latest and greatest deal? Well, the short answer is that you don?t.
THE MISTAKE
Hundreds of businesses and marketers are flocking to social media with the sole intention of making money. You?d be hard-pressed to visit any social network without finding someone who posts link after link in the hopes of having someone bite the bait. Many such ?marketers? have been banned from these sites, only to come back with a new email address, create a new account and repeat the same mistake over and over and over. The reality is that using social media to pitch a sale, promote a business or enroll prospects does NOT work. You cannot enter these sites thinking that you will create a solid empire out of them and expect to see results. Keep in mind that people do not come to these sites looking to buy anything. People go to amazon or ebay, credit card in hand ready to make a purchase. That is never the case with social media. They are there to be social!
THE BOTTOM LINE
That being the case, then, why is it that so many continue to rave about the wonder of social network marketing? Well, the bottom line is that social media is a great tool for that which it was intended to do, which is build relationships in a viral, high-speed, global manner. If you think about that statement very carefully, you?ll have the answer you?ve been looking for. Does social network marketing work? Well, if you take the time to use social media to build real, meaningful, effective relationships, then you have just found the most powerful and effective tool available to any entrepreneur or business out there. See, the trick is that you cannot sell anything on these sites, except real content and real value. If you take the time to connect with people and show them that you are genuinely concerned with helping THEM, they will begin to trust and respect you, and will, in time, come to you looking for that which you have to offer. Yes, you understood correctly, they will ASK YOU for your product or service without you having to pitch, sell, or prospect. THAT is why social network marketing can be so powerful!
So, does social network marketing work? The short answer is that it depends on your approach. If you come at it expecting to sell, sell, sell, then chances are it probably won?t work for you. If, however, you arrive at these sites in the true spirit of helping others and building meaningful relationships, then you have just found a great tool, which, in time, will help you build and even explode your business.

NEW YORK (AFP) ? US stocks sank on Friday, weighed down by an unexpectedly negative report on the country's economic growth and nervousness over the debt-ceiling battle in Washington.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 96.87 points (0.79 percent) to close at 12,143.24. It has now fallen for six consecutive trading days.
The broader S&P 500 tumbled 8.39 points (0.65 percent) to 1,292.28, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite shed 9.87 points (0.36 percent) to close at 2,756.38.
The Dow plunged more than 100 points in opening trade after the government reported that US gross domestic product grew just 1.3 percent in the second quarter, a much slower pace than economists had expected.
Notably, the government also slashed its estimate for first-quarter GDP growth from 1.9 percent to just 0.4 percent.
"The revision of Q1 was pretty stunning. Not a good overall number to finish the week on," said Marc Pado, chief US market strategist for Cantor Fitzgerald.
Stock markets later made up some ground but remained depressed as investors worried about the looming threat of a default by the US government or a downgrade of the United States's top-notch credit rating.
Only four days remain before a deadline set by the US Treasury for when it says it will stop being able to pay its bills unless Congress raises the government's $14.29 trillion borrowing limit.
Congress has been unable to reach a compromise as deeply divided Democrats and Republicans have struggled to bridge their differences over taxes and government spending.
In company news, shares of Yahoo! fell 3.0 percent after the Internet services firm announced that it had settled a dispute with its Chinese partners over payment-processing unit Alipay.
Yahoo! claimed victory in the agreement, but some analysts compared the resolution of the dispute to a forced sale.
Shares of Chevron, the number-two US oil company, dropped 1.0 percent even though it reported that its second-quarter profits had surged 43 percent to $7.73 billion.
Bond prices rallied. The yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 2.81 percent from 2.95 percent late on Thursday, while the 30-year bond dropped to 4.13 percent from 4.26 percent.
Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

LOS ANGELES ? Hideki Irabu joined the New York Yankees 14 years ago in a swell of international excitement. The quirky, flamethrowing Japanese right-hander seemed destined to become a pioneering star for American baseball's marquee franchise.
Irabu never reached those enormous expectations, and his career spiraled. On Wednesday, the 42-year-old was found dead, an apparent suicide in a home in Rancho Palos Verdes, a wealthy Los Angeles suburb.
"He was a world-class pitcher," said former major league manager Bobby Valentine, who managed Irabu in Japan in 1995. "When Nolan Ryan saw him, he said he had never seen anything like it. There were just some days when he was as good a pitcher as I had ever seen. A fabulous arm."
Los Angeles County coroner's official Ed Winter said his office is investigating Irabu's death as a suicide, revealing no additional circumstances. An autopsy will be performed Friday or Saturday.
Irabu was billed as the Japanese version of Ryan when he arrived in the United States in 1997, a hard-throwing starter with a 98-mph fastball who excelled as a strikeout specialist ? an almost unfair addition to the defending World Series champions.
After an impressive debut with the Yankees that summer, he was a disappointment to the Yankees and himself during three seasons in the Bronx. Instead, he was forever tagged with a label from late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner, who called him a "fat ... toad" after Irabu failed to cover first base during an exhibition game.
Irabu finished 34-35 with a 5.15 ERA in his tenure with the Yankees, two years in Montreal and a final season in the Texas bullpen in 2002. He was a member of two Yankees teams that won the World Series, but his only postseason action was a single relief appearance in the 1999 AL championship series when Boston tagged him for 13 hits.
Irabu pitched in an American independent league and signed with a Japanese team in recent years while living with his family in Southern California. Neighbors believe Irabu had grown despondent recently because of a split with his wife.
Mary Feuerlicht said she was about to go pick up her son on Wednesday morning when a man came running down the driveway from Irabu's large two-story home, perched atop a hill with views of the harbor and downtown Los Angeles, pleading with her to call police.
Feuerlicht said she was later told by sheriff's deputies and the man who asked her for help that Irabu's wife had left him, taking their two young daughters. She hadn't seen Irabu's wife and children for two months, but said the family regularly left town for the summer.
"When I saw him for the past month or so he seemed kind of down," she said. "He wasn't kind of perky like I've seen him before."
Ichiro Sakashita, who identified himself as Irabu's friend, arrived late Thursday to place huge bouquets of flowers in front of the former player's home. Sakashita said Irabu wanted to become a baseball coach and stay involved with the sport after his retirement, but ultimately decided to spend time with his family.
Sakashita said Irabu and his wife had been separated for about a month.
"He decided to go to heaven," he said. "So we must accept that."
Irabu's death is the second apparent suicide by a sports figure this week. Police say American Olympic freestyle skier Jeret "Speedy" Peterson shot himself in a Utah canyon on Monday.
Valentine said he got the news about Irabu on Thursday when it came across on his mobile phone.
"I got a little sick to my stomach, actually," he said.
Irabu was one of several pitchers from Japan who hoped to duplicate Hideo Nomo's trailblazing achievements in the major leagues. Irabu also was a curiosity ? he taped magnets all over his body when he pitched, hoping they would bring wellness.
Although Irabu largely struggled in the majors, he left a lasting legacy. Several big stars, from Ichiro Suzuki to Hideki Matsui, followed Nomo and Irabu from Japan to the United States.
"He was one of the pioneers," Valentine said. "There was a lot riding on his shoulders."
Irabu starred in Japan for nearly a decade before the San Diego Padres purchased his contract from the Chiba Lotte Marines. But Irabu declined to join the Padres, insisting he would only play for the Yankees.
The Yankees put together a package and traded for Irabu a few months later and signed him to a four-year, $12.8 million contract.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Hideki Irabu," the Yankees said in a statement. "Every player that wears the Pinstripes is forever a part of the Yankees family, and his death is felt throughout our organization."
Irabu pitched just eight games in the minors before making his big league debut at Yankee Stadium on July 10, 1997. The crowd was buzzing even before his first pitch, and fans on two continents watched him. T-shirts with "Typhoon Irabu" were on sale at the concession stands at Yankee Stadium and sushi was sold alongside the hot dogs and beers.
With current Yankees manager Joe Girardi as his catcher that night, Irabu retired the first six Detroit batters, striking out four of them and showing a 96 mph fastball. He fanned nine in 6 2-3 innings and got the win.
When he walked off the mound in the seventh inning, Yankees fans gave him a standing ovation. Some even bowed with both hands over their heads, and Irabu came out of the dugout for a curtain call.
That, however, was perhaps his finest moment in the majors.
"He was a work in progress. It just didn't progress I guess the way he had planned or the way some people planned," Valentine said.
Irabu posted a team-leading 16 saves ? the only saves of his major league career ? with Texas in 2002. He then returned to Japan for the 2003 season and enjoyed renewed success, earning a win in the All-Star game, going 13-8 and helping Hanshin win its first league title in 18 years.
Irabu made a comeback in April 2009 in the independent Golden Baseball League, going 5-3 with a 3.58 ERA for the Long Beach Armada. He then returned to Japan and was introduced that August as a member of the Kochi Fighting Dogs, saying, "I have high expectations for myself."
But Irabu also had off-the-field trouble in recent years.
In August 2008, he was arrested in Japan for allegedly assaulting a bartender after drinking 20 mugs of beer. Police said he became angered after his credit card was rejected.
In May 2010, Irabu was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in Gardena, another Los Angeles suburb. Police said he was stopped after his car drifted outside of traffic lanes and he nearly collided with a parked car.
He posted $5,000 bail but it was not immediately clear whether he was criminally charged.
"I think that he was one of his own worst enemies," Valentine said.

OSLO (Reuters) ? Norwegians united in mourning on Friday as the first funerals were held a week after anti-Islam extremist Anders Behring Breivik massacred at least 77 people in attacks that traumatized the nation.
Flanked by an imam and a bishop from Norway's Lutheran state church, Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg attended a ceremony in Oslo's main mosque at 1330 GMT -- the time Breivik detonated a homemade car bomb in central Oslo on July 22.
"We were victims of an attack on the heart of democracy," Stoltenberg said of the worst attacks in the Nordic nation's peacetime history, targeting Stoltenberg's ruling Labour Party. "The result was a strengthened democracy. A tighter unity."
"We want to be one community. Across faith, ethnicity, gender and rank," Stoltenberg said of a backlash against the attacks by 32-year-old Breivik, a radical Christian whose name the premier has not once uttered in public.
On Friday evening, police raised the death toll at a Labour Party summer youth camp on Utoeya island 45 km (28 miles) from Oslo to 69 from 68, many of the victims were teenagers. The shooting followed a bomb that killed 8 in Oslo.
"All the dead after the terrorist acts ... have been identified," the police said, although they stopped short of declaring 77 the final toll.
Flags around the nation flew at half mast. Norway suspended import tolls on roses since Norwegian producers are unable to meet demand for the flowers that have become the symbol of remembrance -- a red rose is the Labour Party emblem.
In Nesodden, south of Oslo, the first of the funerals was held, for Bano Rashid, an 18-year-old woman who came to Norway in 1996 with her family fleeing Kurdistan in northern Iraq. She was shot dead at the summer camp.
Rashid was the first to be buried in a newly consecrated Muslim section of the cemetery by the picturesque stone-and-wood church, built in 1175. Several hundred mourners followed her casket to the grave, led by a Lutheran priest and an imam.
"We have many Muslims living here now, so she will not be alone there for long," the Islamic cleric, Senaid Kobilica of Bosnia, said of the new area of the cemetery.
"Seeing the imam and the priest walking together from the church was a mighty image -- the strongest message that can be sent to counter the forces we have been witness to," Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said.
On Utoeya island Rashid had lent a pair of rubber boots to former Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland, who spoke to the youths before departing on a boat before the shooting.
In a second funeral, Ismail Haji Ahmed, 19, was buried near Hamar, north of Oslo. Ahmed, a dancer who appeared in a television talent show this year, was one of three in his family who were at Utoeya, parliamentarian Thomas Breen said.
"We have lost one of our most beautiful roses," he told Reuters. The two other family members survived.
Police interrogated Breivik on Friday, for the second time since he was arrested, and said he was "strikingly calm." He could face a lifetime in jail.
Muslims welcomed Stoltenberg's calls for unity.
"It was very good, very open, very inclusive for the Muslim community," said Ahmed Ali, an Iraqi-born immigrant, aged 23.
Earlier, the Labour party held a somber memorial in a hall in central Oslo with calls for more democracy and tolerance. Delegates held aloft red roses.
SUMMER CAMPS
"We have taken our country back... we will take Utoeya back," said Eskil Pedersen, head of the Labour youth movement which plans to hold more summer camps on the island.
Police believe Breivik acted alone even though he said in a 1,500-page manifesto that he was the member of a wider network of Knights Templar, bent on what he saw as a crusade to end "cultural Marxism" and save Europe.
"No others have been arrested. Everything points toward one (person)," police lawyer Paal-Fredrik Hjort Kraby said.
An opinion poll indicated that support for Labour had leapt about 10 percentage points in the days after the attacks, and Stoltenberg has won praise for his calm handling of the crisis.
The poll, for newspaper Sunnmoersposten, found that Labour support jumped to 38.7 percent immediately after the attacks from 28.1 percent just before, in a two-part poll each covering about 500 people in the days around July 22.
At the same time, support for the populist right-wing Progress Party, of which Breivik was once a member, fell along with backing for the opposition Conservative party.
The Progress Party became the second biggest in parliament after a 2009 election on an anti-tax and anti-immigration platform, but says Breivik was not an active member.
A court has appointed two psychiatrists to try to discover why Breivik staged his attacks, with a mandate to report back by November 1. His lawyer has said he is probably insane.
Norway plans to set up an independent "July 22 Commission" to examine the attacks, including investigating whether police reacted too slowly to the shootings at Utoeya island, when Breivik was able to kill for more than an hour.
Police have said officers drove to Utoeya from Oslo because they had no helicopter available.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. ? General Dynamics Corp. said Wednesday that its second-quarter earnings rose slightly as lower costs somewhat offset revenue declines across several business units.
The defense contractor's earnings beat Wall Street expectations while revenue came in short. It raised its full year earnings expectations.
For the April-June period, the company said its net income rose to $653 million, or $1.77 per share, in the April-June period. That's up from $648 million, or $1.69 per share, a year earlier.
Revenue fell 3 percent to $7.88 billion from $8.10 billion. Costs fell 1 percent. Margins stayed flat.
Analysts polled by FactSet Research expected a profit of $1.73 per share on revenue of $8.28 billion.
The company now expects earnings from continuing operations to be between $7.15 and $7.20 per share, compared with an earlier range of $7 to $7.10 per share. Analysts were forecasting $7.13 a share.
Its shares fell $1.31, or 1.9 percent, to $69.01 in morning trading as the broader market pulled back.
General Dynamics Corp., which is based in Falls Church, Va., said revenue fell in its core aerospace, marine systems and information systems and technology units. Revenue was up slightly in the company's combat unit.
The company's total order backlog at the end of the quarter was $57.1 billion. General Dynamics said demand for Gulfstream aircraft and services were particularly strong. Combat, marine and IT units also received key orders during the quarter.

I felt lately that I need a small vacation, and I planned to fly today to Finland. But last evening, someone called me?to tell me ?that one of my former?s workmate from orphanage daughter died? two days ago, and funeral would be today. We have been working 4 years together, and her daughter, interested in psychology, always wanted to meet me. And being abroad now for several years, I have been told by one taxi-driver, the same who called, that he gave? her a lift very ofter from work and she was asking about me, if he knew how I am, what I am doing. And since I was home this summer? she was in mind, she knew I am home, she wanted to meet me. I saw her husband maybe two weeks ago, wanted to go talked to him and asked about her, i heard she is ill. But I didn?t, and felt sorry since after.
And yesturday, when I found out I was devastated. And decide to cancel my trip, and go to the funeral. I believe there are unic moments in life.
So, today I was to the forth funeral this month. First my brother?s,? two weeks after to my father? sister and husband, and the one from today, of a 26 years old girl. About my aunt and uncle?s funeral was interesting.A few hours after ?uncles funeral, my aunt died. So, in the family, at a distance of 3 days, there were two funerals. In Romania, the funeral is three days after the death, of course, can be exceptions in case of dyings in hospital or abroad.
Today, I met there many of my former coleagues from orphanage, volunteers from Swedish ?organisation i used to work with for about 8 years, I met local people and people belonging to?Baptist church. And some of them, I didn?t remember their names, came talking to me.
There were many people. There were spoken ?beautiful words , and beautiful songs were sang.?The place were the?white coffin was beautifuly arrange with white dressed columns and flowers , very many beautiful flowers.
On a screen they show her face. A beautiful 26years old girl. She was smiling in the picture. And that was? a beautiful smile. The pastor was saying that she lived happy and she died happy.
I?was amazed throughout the funeral by the SILENCE: people were grieving in silence. And maybe because I was expecting family to cry out loud. As usualy is.? There were words about dignity in pain, there were words about a fest of? acceptance death with? dignity.? It might this be conected with strong belief in God, and believing death is a relief in suffering.
The pastor said that this is not? a wail, but? a fest of leaving our worls and go joing the kingdom of God.
when funeral was finnished and the coffin was taken? out, family followed. The mother saw me.Her face was petrified and and a scared look. She touched here face to mine, and told: ? I am in peace, she went happily, I am in peace?.? and my tears were wetting her face and my face? Who could comprehend what is in a mothers heart when looses a child?
The funeral itself was beautiful and at one point I was thinking that I would like myself to be remembered like that when my time will come. So many people and friends to talk so beautifully about me and my life.

First, I give my opinion on the pros and cons of the iPhone 4 and then list some of the features of the iPhone, which can be compared to other cordless phones. In my opinion the best part of the touch screen is touch sensitivity is very good and important screen is very nice to see and enjoyable. It takes time to adjust with your fingers in other ways, but that is what is the new technology.
Another great thingabout the iPhone is the many applications that are free and include free ringtones, and is too numerous to mention. You can download from the iTunes Store via any Internet connection. Applications for the iPhone are mostly free, but can go up to $ 100US.
The iPhone e-mail system is also very good and can be programmed so that the e-mails to different times of the day's burden, are not disturbed. The installation is very simple and allows you to e-mail access anywhere you travel.
List of iPhoneFeatures
? The world's thinnest cell phone, 25% thinner than the iPhone 3G / S
? 300 hours of battery life in standby mode
? 7 hours 3G talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of navigation Wi-Fi
? 5-megapixel camera with flash
? Front-facing camera for video chat
? 960 ? 640 screen resolution with 326 pixels per inch
? Full HD video capture
? 3-axis gyro
? Apple A4 processor
? 5 megapixelsCamera with flash
Was one of the negatives associated with the previous phone, the iPhone camera original, the new iPhone include a new 4-megapixel camera that can record HD video. This is a big step forward and should make one of the above mentioned properties.
The biggest feature was promised in my review of all front-facing camera, video chat for 4 years. This new application is called "FaceTime," and it allows you to make video callsother iPhone users. From my experience, the video quality is excellent.
I have the iPhone 4 at the end of June 2010. I did not buy the traditional way, I went to phone the free offers that you provide personal information such as your e-mail address and sign up for a few product offerings requires. I had the iPad the same way, is not everyone's cup of tea, but I do not mind spending 10 minutes and get more spam for the freebie.

In this section we want to look at automotive schools, what they offer and which type will fill your needs. this is the most important question to answer because the only thing that counts is does it fit your criteria and is this school accepted in the automotive community.
Why Do You need Automotive Schools?
The auto repair industry has changed. if you want to become an auto mechanic you must have the required training, this training is done at a specialized auto mechanics school. Dealers, repair shops, repair centers, they just don?t have the time or staff to keep up with all the changes in the industry. they have handed this challenge over to schools, and for this reason your first step is weeding out the automotive schools that could fit your needs.
Determine your Schedule First
For people that want to make a career change, you need to devise a workable schedule. if you are working a full time job and want to go to automotive school too, you may want to look at auto training online.
There are quite a few advantages to training online, such as: Lower tuition costs, flexible study times, less stress (having to drive to night school), study in a relaxed atmosphere, and you can do the course at your pace.
The biggest draw back to online training is not being able to have the ?hands on? classroom experience. I guess if you wanted to practice on your own car you could, but what if you couldn?t put the pieces back together?
So, determining your schedule will be a big factor when it comes time to decide on what type of automotive school you need for your situation.
Trade School Benefits
Automotive trade schools have their own unique benefits. Lets look at the pros first.
Pros:
Cons:
This last point is one that requires more discussion. A recruiters job is to sell and recruit, thus the title of recruiter. in their enthusiasm to do a good job they overstate employment prospects and wages. your job in this whole process is to enlighten yourself on what reality is in the auto repair job market and use this knowledge to find the right automotive school for your educational needs.
Community College ? your Other Choice
Your local community college is another option you have for automotive schooling. Auto repair is a popular subject that most community colleges offer courses for, you will get a diploma upon completion. Lets look at the pros and cons.
Pros:
Cons:
Costs, location and class schedules are all factors in choosing a community college. These colleges do an amazing job in filling the needs of many students wanting to enter the auto mechanic field, but there are a few more things to consider.
Other Considerations
Chances are you will be looking for a job in your local community, go and talk with local dealers and repair shops. These are the folks that are hiring, they will tell you first hand which automotive schools are best. Don?t forget to include in the conversation the subject of online schools, see what their opinion is about these schools.
Saturation ? each region of the country is different, in general there is a demand for qualified auto mechanics, but included in your research for the right automotive schools you have to look at your local market. There is always the possibility of saturation, especially when a locality gets hit hard with layoffs. People will gravitate to what?s popular and becoming an auto mechanic is popular these days.

Knowing the Unknown
?You may have come across a lot of fortune tellers and read horoscopes to know about yourself or others but were still left unconvinced due to lack of scientific evidence. However the art of studying a person from his hand writing ; Graphology (Handwriting analysis), will? convince you considerably about the degree of truth when you apply it on your own self and thus later on others.
I have some crux of the subject which may arouse interest ?for knowing it more. The handwriting of a person is the subconscious reflection of his inside qualities formed over a period of time like a seismograph is to the earthquake. From the study of various factors of handwriting like the slant, line slope, flow, spacing, pressure of your pen, distortion of letters and ?changes ?you can know the unknown qualities of an individual? remotely just by studying a page written in his own hand. You may find this tact very useful in studying the troops, your clerks, colleagues, friends and ?relatives thereby making your life simpler.
?1 ?SLANT A fwd sloping(upper side of the letter tilted to the right and lower to the left) indicates reaching out towards people, upright writing with no slope is of the people who walk alone, have different motivations factors than their fellowmen and backward slope indicates pulling away from people.
?2 ?LINE SLOPE If you notice the handwriting alignment going up to the right it depicts current cheerfulness while those descending show depression or physical weariness.
?3 ?FLOW The impulsive movements of the pen are controlled by the character who holds it. Restraint is shown when the pen leaves the paper. A happy flow will produce the tidiest handwriting and the unhappy will induce variations in stroke sizes, slope & pressure and indicate conflict. Decorations ?of letters show a desire to dominate or influence (hvy pressure with thickening end to strokes).Dragging of pen before each word is a visible hesitation of non impulsive person who peer all around a situation before acting on it. Many people make a break in their writing after every 4-5 letters regardless of the length of the word, such people are cautious who proceed after looking around that there is no danger of anyone pouncing on them from behind, whereas those with no pauses rush blindly into danger. Slow writing means slow thinking. A balanced person will always adapt himself to the space available and utilise it completely. The pen grip will affect the appearance of the writing. Well formed and evenly sized letters will be of a strong wrist and untidy or over released character indicates strained wrist.
?4? ?SPACING Writing with small spaces (two letter widths) between the words shows a character willing to allow others to have their say. Cramped writing shows people who like to be surrounded by others but are afraid of being bullied. Wide gap between words indicate distrust of others or a love of solitude. While looking at the page exaggerated margins at top or on the left side of the paper shows reluctance to embark on untried projects. Very wide margins on the bottom or the right show fear of reprisal. Narrow margins on the top or left show initial confidence and on the bottom or the right indicate increasing confidence after embarkation of the project.
?5? PRESSURE ?Pressure can be checked by feeling the grooves and ridges formed at the back side of the paper with your finger touch. Use of ?thick nib also indicates pressure. Those applying hvy pressure in their hand writing? are strong personalities both mentally and physically having good health. Light pressure shows vice versa.
?6? DISTORTIONS? Some deliberately distort letters for easier writing, those are lazy ones and have weakness in their lower body. Drooping ? t ' strokes (ie with ?'?? of the t going down) indicate tiredness. All downward flattened letters show a reluctance to allow logic to influence decisions. Many distortions are due to imbalance of personality.
?7? CHANGES? ?Changes in handwriting shows development and growth when you compare old and new written pages. ?Certain weekly variations like a drooping ?t stroke or a downward sloping lines means lack of drive. Unfinished endings of words are a sign of impatience, haste or pressure of wk. A formerly upright hand sloping fwd (upper side of letter to the right and lower to the left) shows greater need of others and attempts to reach them similarly a backwards pulled writing indicates injury to emotions. Writing with slopes in more than one direction shows present hurt. Improved ?handwriting with smoother flows than before indicate that some of the problems have been ironed out.
These are only a few and the basic ones? to give an idea of what Graphology is as it is not possible to cover in detail here. One must resort to further reading if accurate results are to be interpreted

My first thoughts on self publishing used to be no, no, NO! After all, it was one of the first pieces of advice I was given as a budding writer. If I wanted to be taken seriously, I needed a publisher behind me, a real publisher. One fellow writer said, ?Some authors are opening small companies to publish under, but readers are seeing right through it. It?s still self publishing and that translates to unprofessional work.?
Pretty strong words, right? Yes, they were. I decided to heed them.
But, the publishing industry has shifted in the last couple of years. Have things changed enough? Is self publishing more accepted now?
I?m considering self publishing my next book, but it makes me nervous. Those words from the beginning have stuck with me. If I self publish, will I be taken seriously?
And honestly, speaking as an avid reader, there are valid concerns about the quality of work from indie authors. I?ve read some books that were poorly written. Most of these authors have never been published. The reasons were clear to me, and sadly, the authors didn?t understand the poor quality of their work.
I don?t mean to sound harsh. I understand the hard work that goes into writing. I really do. My first works didn?t get published and they shouldn?t have. They weren?t good enough.
The skills of writing need to be developed for many years. Publishers filter the good from the bad. With the option of self publishing, we no longer have that filter.
Of course, the reverse has also been the case. I?ve read indie authors that were phenomenal! But most of those seemed to be previously published writers.
Just yesterday, I saw where Harlequin Intrigue Author Dana Marton just released a self published book! That took me by surprise. I?m a fan of hers and she definitely caught my attention with this career choice.
So, I?m honestly on the fence about this as a whole and when considering my own writing. I?ve worked too hard at developing my writing career to do anything to hurt it now.
What do you think? Do you have any thoughts on this subject?
