Visual & Performing Arts in June
Fontana, California The Mayor and City Council invite residents to enjoy Fontana?s performing and visual arts at the many venues in Downtown Fontana this June.
June 9 marks the start of the Sunset Concert Series on Thursday nights at Veterans Park from 7 to 9 p.m. Groove to the tunes, dance the night away, visit the activity booths, enjoy the food and goodies or simply relax as the sun sets.
The Art Depot Gallery, located at?16822 Spring Street,?hosts Fusion Friday on June 3 from 6-9 p.m. Visitors will have the chance to talk with 8 artists each offering insight into how they use different mediums in their art.
Also this June there is Art in the Park on Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Southridge Park, located at 14501 Live Oak Avenue. Celebrate artistic diversity at this community event featuring live entertainment, activity booths, art projects and food.
Visit the Aquatic Center for the Sounds of the Islands, a free concert showcasing tropical music. Visitors can watch and listen to live music and entertainment or enjoy art activities, carnival games and delicious food. Swimming and waterslides will be available for regular fees. The fun is on Saturday, June 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Fontana Park Aquatic Center.
In addition to these events, there are free activities on select Tuesdays this June as part of Performance Tuesdays at the Steelworkers? Auditorium, located at 8437 Sierra Ave.
The first performance this month is ?Earth is in Our Hands? a magic show by Paul Cash focused on environmental awareness starting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7.
The next event is ?A Night of Comedy and Magic? where master magician Jimmy H entertains with a mix of magic and comedy. The performance will start at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14.
A third event is ?Exciting Science? where guests can watch and participate in entertaining experiments on magnetic, electric and heat energy on Tuesday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m.
?Smooth Jazz? is the final performance in June at the Steelworkers? Auditorium. Enjoy live music from Michael Haggins in the Lewis Library Courtyard on June 28 at 5:30 p.m.
The nearby Center Stage Theatre, located at 8463 Sierra Avenue, also has several events this month.
Noches con Ritmo continues at Center Stage Theatre on the first and third Thursdays of June. The night features hours of Latin music and dance instruction. Appetizers and beverages are available to order. This month Noches con Ritmo is on June 2 and 16. Dance instruction starts at 7 p.m., followed by live music and dancing at 8 p.m. Admission is open to adults 18 and older for a $5 fee.
Join the cast of TIBBIES at Center Stage as they take you back in time with ?Those Fabulous Forties.? Relive the jazzy sounds of Cole Porter and the big band hits that made the Forties swing. Hear the boogie bugle boy call the troops at our own USO show in this high-energy song and dance revue. ?Those Fabulous Forties? is on June 3-5, 10-12 and 17-20.
