First Watch: Scala And Kolacny Brothers Cover Foo Fighters' 'Everlong'

Scala and Kolacny Brothers ? the all-female Belgian choir known for covering songs by groups such as Radiohead, U2 and Nirvana ? are back with a new video for the Foo Fighters song "Everlong."

The video was directed by Mark Woollen, the same guy who produced the trailer for The Social Network, which featured Scala and Kolacny Brothers' version of "Creep." Here's what he has to say about making "Everlong."

The original version of "Everlong" is one of my personal favorites. I love how Scala has reinvented it, adding their unique sensibility to the vocal and instrumental portions. I feel their take on the song gave new dimensions to the music, uncovering previously hidden layers and giving me a new appreciation for something I thought I had been completely familiar with.

As soon as I heard this song, I was instantly taken with this feeling of wanting to hold on to a moment with someone. This idea is stylized in the video through the filming of several couples in extreme slow motion, all caught in a single emotional instant ? a clasped hand, a shared laugh, a passionate embrace; the disappearing seconds of our lives that we wish we could hold on to.

The video serves as a visual diary, a celebration of interpersonal connections, seen through the eyes of various couples in a single room, but there is also something a little deeper playing out around them. From the opening shot of the hallway to the interior of the room itself, we see that this is no ordinary place. In fact, the room and its inhabitants are slowly being reclaimed by nature. This transformation represents a return to the organic emotional state of man ? something so primitive, yet such a vital part of humanity.
